Shouldn't the old guy have had the patch on his right sleeve/ shoulder indicating combat service. At one p point there was not even a patch on his left sleeve / shoulder, good commercial they should have paid a little more attention to details

Its done in purpose as military characterization, gear and uniforms can only be portrayed and worn by military members, otherwise one would incur into breaking laws and usurping.

Same thing is done in Hollywood movies, rank at time is worn upside down, etc

Respect for all service members, past and present!
