Food truck summer extravaganza in Santo Domingo
Bocao Food Fest is set for 22-23 July 2017 at the parking lot of the Torre Popular on Av. John F. Kennedy corner Máximo Gómez. The event is in its 4th year. The promoters will create the ambiance of a tropical jungle and offer good food and snacks and refreshing drinks on Saturday, 22 July from 3pm and on Sunday, 23 July from noon.

Food trucks and stands operated by popular restaurants will be serving delicious food on those two days celebrating the cuisine of Santo Domingo. There will be a children’s area and an artisans’ exhibition and sale area.

Admission fee is RD$300 per person per day, and RD$500 for those who want to go both days. The food trucks and stands charge additional for the food, but most dishes are priced from RD$100 to RD$300 and food vendors accept cash and credit cards.

Limited parking will be available at Calle Mayor Piloto Enrique Valverde. The promoters recommend carpooling or taking a taxi.

Latin Music Tour in Punta Cana
Chiquito Team Band, The New York Band and El Alfa on Saturday, 18 August and Anthony Santos, Fernando Villalona, Mozart La Para and La Materialista on 19 August are booked for the 2017 Latin Music Tours at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana. The annual Latin music festival has been happening since 2011 promoted by Quepe Tours.

Hotel and show packages are sold to enjoy two days of salsa, merengue, bachata, pop, rock, urban and electronic music.

Charter flights start from Austin to Punta Cana
It is getting easier to travel from Texas to the Dominican Republic. Vacation Express announces nonstop flights by Swift Air between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) as of May 2018. AUS is described as “the airport of choice for Central Texas.”

The flights between Austin and Punta Cana will operate once per week from 28 May 28 to 6 Aug 2018. Flights will leave Austin on Mondays at 7am and arrive in Punta Cana at 12:20 pm, and flights from Punta Cana to Austin will depart on Sundays at 2pm and arrive in Austin at 5:45pm. Swift Air will be flying a 150-seat Boeing 757-400 aircraft.

Vacation Express provides non-stop charter flights, vacation packages and all-inclusive packages from Austin to Punta Cana. Vacation Express, member of Sunwing Travel Group, Inc., has been in existence since 1989 and is the largest tour operator in the southeast United States, headquartered in Atlanta. Latam Airlines Brazil starts flights in January 2018
Latam Airlines Brazil is booking regular flights from Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU) to Punta Cana International (PUJ) with a first flight scheduled for 18 January 2018, announced Luis Ernesto Camilo, president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC). Promotional one-way flights are going for as low as US$774. An Airbus A-319 with capacity for 160 passengers will be used.

Camilo explained Latam is the largest airline in Latin America. It is a member of the One World Alliance. The airline is based in Sao Paulo, and flies to South America, Europe and the United States.

Camilo said that as of April 2017, this year 98,000 tourists had arrived on flights from Brazil. With the start of the regular flights, the number is expected to significantly increase.

Latam Airlines Group was born out of the joint operations of LAN and TAM airlines that service destinations in Latin America.
