I don't have the stats but it seems to me that this has been a much safer year for expats when compared to last year.

Is it just me or is the report that the alleged perpetrator of this crime is 67 years old, unusual? The perpetrators of murders and, for that matter, most other crimes involving expats in the DR, that I have heard about are much younger people. I'd like to know more about the motivation for this.

The old man was probably squatting on his property and Klaus was getting rid to get him evicted. Should have know better and not confront him without some backup and a gun.

I got told from Dominicans who live in Gaspar Hernandez that the German man was a quiet man who always walked his 2 dogs. He got into dispute with someone about a piece of land and got killed. He was no trouble maker...just someone who lived quietely. Sad story!

Let's hope the decrease continues and gets even better. I don't keep track but just from reading the news last year did seem like a particularly bad year for expats here.

yeah. a dominican fren from GH told me that everyone loved the german guy and that he was very kind and quiet.

Who kills for flirting anyway - some gumbah with a machismo complex ?

Now if he caught them in a compromising position then maybe he would have the right to be mad - at his wife !
