Looking for a nice hotel in santo domingo?

If you are looking for a hotel with the amenities of a resort type hotel. Jaragua is your best option. but, if you are looking for class, elegancy, (not disco, not sport bars),etc, Hotel Santo Domingo is the best hotel here.
for one reason they double the price of Jaragua.

This is a Dominican forum and the moderators are dominican. They will always steer you in the direction of dominican owned businesses. Jaragua ias the best hotel in Santo Domingo without a doubt. What you will find at Hotel Santo Domingo is Dominican tackiness, not American style luxury as at the Jaragua.

Man alive! This is the first time I have ever heard the Hotel Santo Domingo called "tacky?" ... Unless things have really changes in the past couple of years, I beg to differ.
I hosted Father Ted Hesburgh, the President of Notre Dame University at that hotel, as well as the former Cardinal of NYC...funny, but tastes seems to have changed.
By the way, Mrs Coors -yes THAT Coors, loved that hotel...Hummmm....

This 2 hotels are nice. which want is better? that will depend on what are you need.
Mccimbrass dont get me wrong. I am dominican and i still like more Jaragua than Hotel Santo Domingo. why? because I am young, i like to party, i like to go to Champions, i like Casino. they have a nice Disco.
But , this guy ask for the best hotel in SD. and I think hotel Santo Domingo is far away more luxury than Jaragua. It has a nice architecture and all the rooms and Lobby were decorated with elegance by Oscar de la Renta. this is a very expensive hotel with a first class service. Sure this place is run by dominicans as well as Casa de Campo. and they both cater the best from USA.
