I will arrive in Santo Domingo on Saturday night for a whirlwhind three days. I want to spend part of Monday March 8th, 1998 horseback riding. I do not want to travel too far from the city. I have heard that to go see the waterfalls in jarabacoa you can take a horseback ride, but last time I tried to find them I got lost. I did find a beautiful river but not a waterfall.

I would really like some input on this matter. Thank you. Respectfully,

Not March 8th, 1998 - I meant March 8th, 1999.

Thank you

There are several horseback riding facilities in Santo Domingo (half and hour or less drive from the city itself). These are Las Colinas (Tel. 472-4931), Haras Nacionales and Nitram (Tel. 564-3705).

A great place to go horseback riding is Rancho Cumayasa, located about half an hour west of La Romana, about 1-1/2 hour east of Santo Domingo. Try this celular number once in SD, 1-222-3505 or Fax 248-6034. Ask for Samuel or Carlos Arriaza.

One of the best facilities in the Caribbean for horseback riding is located in La Romana, part of Casa de Campo's facilities. These are about two hours from Santo Domingo.
