PAWA Dominicana resumes scheduled flights to San Martin

SANTO DOMINGO. PAWA Dominicana announced the resumption of its regular flights to and from San Martin, after the island was severely affected after the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria, which forced the disruption of the same.

Through a press release, airline executives reported that after an arduous restoration work and a first phase of reconstruction work, authorities in San Martin have arranged for the reopening of Princess Juliana International Airport. In that sense, from Tuesday 10 October will be resuming regular flights, with a tentative itinerary.

Currently, PAWA Dominicana maintains three flights from Santo Domingo to San Martin, leaving Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; and three return flights on the same day. On Saturdays, the flights are made with continuation towards the island of Antigua.

It should be noted that passengers with flights previously acquired and that were affected by the passage of hurricanes, can carry out their reprogramming free of charge during this month. Also, customers with flights already programmed can confirm through all PAWA contact channels, such as their call center and website.

Regarding the restoration of this route, executives expressed their gratitude to all institutions and volunteer staff who collaborated in order to transfer hundreds of Dominicans affected by the passing of atmospheric phenomena, as well as thousands of pounds of food and beverages as part of the humanitarian aid to the island of San Martin.

Also, the airline has established special rates for passengers who wish to move from Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic, until the situation is regularized, with tickets at special prices in solidarity with Dominicans living in the neighboring island.

It has been quite difficult to find flights to and from the lesser affected islands to SDQ with the hubs of SXM and SJU affected badly.

At least both Air Century flying out of La Isabela and PAWA have now got their flight schedules near to normal to SJU whilst Jet Blue is all over the place and has no confirmed schedule between SDQ and SJU for October.

Good to see PAWA back to SXM and despite the airport being repaired and not fully open this is good for that island and Anguilla and other nearby destinations with the local airline Winair still flying from SXM.
