Ministry of Tourism announces new advertising campaign
The Ministry of Tourism announced last week the development of the Dominican Republic Live campaign to show off that Dominican tourism destinations have returned to normalcy after the passing of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. The advertising campaign seeks to ease any doubts potential tourists may have about vacationing in the Dominican Republic given to the widespread coverage of the effects of the September hurricanes in the Caribbean.

“We want travelers that are considering a visit to confirm their vacation plans without concerns,” said Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García,

The campaign focuses on how all airports, ports and roadways are up and running without delays and the tourist can enjoy the usual quality Dominican vacation experience. The campaign focuses on Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, La Romana-Bayahibe, Samana and Puerto Plata, the country’s leading tourism destinations.

The Dominican Republic is the leading tourism destination in the Caribbean.

Wi-Fi at SDQ, POP and JBQ international airports
Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom) has launched free unlimited Wi-Fi service for travelers at their main airports in the Dominican Republic. These are the Las Américas International Airport (SDQ), La Isabela International Airport (JBQ) in Santo Domingo, the Puerto Plata Gregorio Luperón (POP) in Puerto Plata.
In a press release, the company explains that Vinci Airports, the global airport company to which Aerodom belongs, is offering the service in alliance with NomoSphere, a specialized operator for broadband and a leader in France with a wide presence across the world.

José del Castillo Saviñón, president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) welcomed the new service and says that it is tied to the Presidential Digital Republic Program that calls for the habilitating of 890 free Wi-Fi points nationwide.

Mónika Infante, director general of Aerodom, said that the initiative will give Internet access to around 15,000 passengers a day at the airports.
