Hi all -- I have underwent the process of getting dominican citizenship and officially have a dominican birth certificate! My only question is in regard to the cedula, unfortunately I did not have enough time in the country to issue a cedula while on the island.

Is it at all possible to get my first cedula here in the United States Embassy/Consulate?

If so, what will I need in addition to the birth certificate?

If not, what is the process like to get a cedula???

No as you have to get your photograph taken and your fingerprints. You will also have to hand in your old foreigners cedula as if you ever used that to register a child, have a bank account, you will have the same number. Then you wait and pick up your cedula and give your fingerprints again.

The guy is harry myrtle beach so you can pm him.
"I have just spoken with Consulado General de la República Dominicana in Miami. They have informed me that they can issue my birth certificate and possibly my Cedula on the same day if I am there early. We had plan to fly to Fort Lauderdale and spend a night with friends. The cost of the birth certificate there is only $10 US vs 1500 pesos or 4500 pesos for VIP. If I only get my birth certificate that day it is ok. That's because we will be visiting Boston,New York,Washington DC, and Florida during the summer. All 4 places have a council that can issue my Cedula."

Hello everyone, its been a while since I followed up on this forum regarding my process in becoming a Dominican citizen by descent. I’ve since have successfully gone through the process and have gotten several questions through private messages on the process so I made this video. Please let me know if any of you all have any questions for me :)

I also wanted to give a special thanks to Lindsay de Feliz (Rest in Peace) and Abreu and Associates Immigration Services for their help throughout my process.
