The head of the Centro Catalán de Santo Domingo (Catalans of Santo Domingo Club), in a discussion about the political crisis currently between Catalunia and Spain, said that there are around 20,000 Catalans in Dominican Republic.

He said that the situation of the Catalans in the DR is extremely good, the Dominican people treat them very well, and that Catalans are very happy to be in Dominican Republic.

On the other hand, it seems that the official position in the Dominican-Catalan community is pro-independence for Catalunia.

I know several and all are very much pro-Catalan independence.

Unfortunately their political leaders back home did not have a fallback plan....Spain beat them with a bat rather than a pen...
