I am looking for flights to New Orleans from Puerto Plata and fully expected to see options only through Miami. Imagine my surprise when the flights went directly to Charlotte instead? This for next spring. Anyone aware of this major route change?
Major hub... largest domestic hub for USAirways - now United
PHL is the int'l hub for them
Right....
my mistake..... and PHL is my home airport...dunce=me
and explains why the OP flies thru Charlotte on AA
I believe you ment to say “ now American Airlines” ? That’s who U.S.Airlines merged with.
United merged with Continental a few years ago and kept the “United” name.
A few years before that, Northwest merged with Delta.
A few years before that, I merged with Mrs. Timotero (but that merger didn’t last). (;-)
PHL is mine too. I haven’t checked recently, but I’ll bet they still only do direct flights to SDQ on weekends only.
Yes they do -- Saturdays to PHL in the afternoon....only Saturdays
Were you grounded and turned away at the gate.
I wish there were more options to avoid Miami. A more wretched airport only exists in the Sudan
No Mechanical failure - Good Comeback -Lol. Nope! And it wasn’t due to a “mechanical failure” either! We just realized we had exceeded the “maximum flight time” and needed a mandatory “crew rest period”.
And guess where we spent our honeymoon oh those many years ago? Playa Dorado. ( I believe the peso: dollar was about 12:1 back then?)
