I am looking to stay in a newly built resort...does anyone know of a newly constructed resort

Newly built in Puerto Plata? None that I’m aware of. But I believe they have/are in the process of, remodeling and renovating several of the “villages” in Playa Dorado. 

Lifestyles resort (next to Puerto Plata in Cofresi) is building a new resort in Cabarete (that’s about 30 minutes from the POP airport).

Please clarify ‘POP’......

Do you mean to include the Sosua / Cabarete area too?

That make your search much easier

VH Atmosphere just opened last week in Playa Dorada.
Emotions by Hodelpa in Playa Dorada is opening at the end of the month I think.

Yes in Sousa too I’ve seen the VH atmosphere the thing about that is that it doesn’t look like it’s near the beach

Yep, VH Atmosphere is not at the beach, but as a client of them you can use the beach. They have a part reserved for their clients.
Emotions is right on the beach.

Blue Jack Tar is a recent refurb in Puerto Plata.

If you are willing to go a little further east into Cabarete, check out Millennium which is about as modern as I have seen in the area.
