I grew up in the D.R. and I am returning as a missionary, is there any way that I can bring some of our personal belongings down without paying taxes on them? I'm talking about household things. Is there any way that we can request an exoneration for our stuff? Also, can computers still be brought into the country tax free, and does that include other computer hardware such as printers, scanners, etc.

Thanks

Computers and peripherals are exempt from duty but not from ITBIS (12%) and the exchange commission (4.75%).

If you are a Dominican returning home after more than 2 years abroad, you can bring in your houselhold goods tax free.

Does this include legal residents from the Dominican Republic who have been gone for more than two years. I am not a citizen, but I grew up in the D.R. and have been a resident all of my life.
