Others have started a discussion on DR1 and Facebook about the recent confiscations of any golf carts found on the roads in Sosua. Some say they had insurance and were "legal"

What is the reason for the confiscations?

Are golf carts illegal to take on the road?

My wife was watching the news last night and they said that golf carts on the streets are against the law. But let us get an expert answer from DR1's legal team.

Sounds pretty definite since she says golf carts are not for use in the streets, but rather for use on a golf course or inside a tourist project while saying she will regularize them for use on the streets?

The headline states one thing, while what she says in the video seems to be another, unless I am not hearing it correctly. I had a native speaker listen to what she said, and the impression was that there will be a meeting to discuss the situation, but they will not be allowed on the streets.
