Of the Dominican Republic? If an individual or group of individuals make a statement to third parties about the character of an individual as a fact rather than an opinion can that constitute an act of defamation under the laws in the country?

Thank you.

Article 367 of the Criminal Code defines defamation as "the allegation or imputation of an act, which attacks the honor or consideration of the person or entity to which it is imputed". There is no defamation if what is said is a verifiable fact, not an opinion or rumor.
