Money Exchange at Dajabon / Ouanaminthe
Hi all,
I'll be taking the Caribe Tours bus shortly from SD to Cap Haitien, and I'll need to exchange some money at the border. I'm not quite sure when exactly the bus stops (at Dajabon? Ouanaminthe? Both?), but on what side of the border do you get better rates for purchasing gourdes? I'll have both USD and Dominican pesos to exchange.

Plenty of money changers at the border where you'll have to go down for paperworks. Be streetsmart for the rates!

As I made the trip a couple of years ago a man came into the bus at the boarder and had good enough rates.

salsafan is correct. as the bus goes from one checkpoint to the other a man comes onboard with a calculator. Rates were fair. He had good quality bills. Many of the low denomination gourdes are in tatters. Get the crispest bills you can.
It was easy and seamless.

Think I used US but surely no problem with pesos.
