Hello everyone!

I will be in Puerto Plata for 5 nights at "Be Live Collection Marien Resort."

Carretera Luperón, Km. 4,5, 57000, Complejo turístico Costa Dorada (Puerto Plata), República Dominicana, Dominican Republic.

I'm just curious if there is anything close by that is a must go to place while I'm there.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

close by, as in "walking distance", not really.

but teleferico is a nice short trip: cable car up to a botanical garden with a great view of the city. http://telefericopuertoplata.com/
chose a day without a cruise ship in PP or else it will be packed.

if you are into history you can visit gregorio luperon museum, small but quite nice. combine it with a short walk around city centre and seeing fortaleza san felipe.

for this trip chose a day with a cruise ship in port, more people means more cops and generally a safer adventure.

take an afternoon and spend it on the malecon, enjoy the view, have a beer or two. It's about a 30 minute walk from the hotel but might be a hot walk. Tourist taxi can take you there, might be a little pricey but safe, or if you are brave grab a moto concho by the street, might cost $150 pesos at most. Taxi ride might be 400 or 500 pesos or maybe more, i'm not sure. Offer 500 and see what they say.

missed that this was for a couple, in that case take a taxi, safer and quicker. who cares what it costs, it's vacation. Take your camera, a cheap one.

Thanks for the suggestions and no it does not have to be walking distance at all. A cab is fine.

Thank you! I might just consider going there.
