some may not be familiar with the works of dominican dembow artist el mayor clasico who recently collaborated with fefita la grande with a remix of his song "ven meneate". this created a major scandal in dominican media.
listin diario was particularly fuming about it, mentioning the lyrics that "cannot be published" due to their vulgarity. so of course i had to look them up ;)

lyrics are here:
https://www.musica.com/letras.asp?letra=2367653

i do not really understand what does it mean: "no te me vuelvas bulto" and "las gringas me vocean: chupa poli, boboton". can anyone help?

the video is here:

hope the mods of spanish forum do not mind my question. vulgar or common, this is dominican spanish after all.

1. That woman is having the time of her life. Gotta give Fefita credit where credit's due.

2. Like it or not, Dominicans can put out some pretty outragious videos

Wow......such beautiful addition to literacy and art!

God bless them.

This is pure garbage and has nothing to do with music or art period. Besides, its also killing the language, proper communication and so many other things.

So is that called music?

When I hear that it makes me wonder why people criticize Gente de Zona and Jacob Forever.

I could not get through the whole video.

DV8, you disappoint me that you didn't know what chupa poli means. ;)
On another note, came back this week after spending a couple of days in your country, it was my first time. I loved it!!!
Beautiful country side, nice people, it's cheap and they sell vodka at the gas station. :bunny:

Yes, I am surprised too. Basically, the word chupar in a song like that is a give away. However, there is slang in Spanish then there is the real low class lingo. You will know when you hear it. The language in that clip is really low.

Let’s keep the discussion about the subject matter at hand.

Video was painful to watch and sad that as some artists start to lose their "mojo" they'll take any offer to stay relevant. They should, at least, make something new and not a garish re-mix. There was nothing in that video that IMHO warranted it being made. I've noticed that quite a few of the lyrics in that particular music genre resort to endless and often mindless repetition: "Marianela, Marianela, Marianela...", "Que tu quiere, que tu quiere, que tu quiere..", "Llevo la vainita, llevo la vainita, llevo la   vainita...", "pomp it, pomp it, pomp it..."

I'd suggest most music here is the same phrase repeated over and over again. Nothing new with this one.

If I'm not mistaken El Mayor Clasico is from Gualey in SD. For those of you not familar with the
geography of Santo Domingo, its the slums on the river bank just behind the Edwardo Brito metro
station. No doubt this fella's lyrics are a reflection of growing up in that environment. Doesn't
surprise me at all. Sometimes an artist will release a controversial record for attention and publicity
which will definitely help both of them book more shows this summer.

More power to them.

That's what they said when Shakespeare coined words like "fashionable", "gloomy", and "critical" among others . . . LOL, I compared El Mayor Clasico to the bard; surely he spins in his grave!
