How much is the typical penalty charged at banks in the DR?
And one other question, is there a time limit to cash a cheque and if so, what is it? TIA

Banreservas can provide you with a sheet that lists its fees. While less than what U.S. banks charge, they are high. For example, it charges USD$40 for a bad check; USD$10 for failing to keep the minimum balance in its USD savings account; and USD$10 for failing to have any transactions within a six-month period. You can get the list from customer service.
