Does anybody know how to go about extracting a DNA sample from a rug (that was used to cover a villain's mouth, while commiting robbery) in a way that it is admissable in court?

Have the forensics from the police pick up the rug or cut out the piece that needs to be analyzed, and contact a DNA lab to have the sample tested. But you would need a sample from the "tug" for comparison. Or just contact a fiscal for more information or for the How to. Good Luck.

Yes,

Contact Agent Gibbs from NCIS! If any logic would prevail you would secure the scene. Video and take photos and keep it sterile. After the fact the evidence will not be valid.

I wouldn't call the police, since it's the prosecutor who directs the investigation and makes these types of requests. You should talk to the fiscal.

And if you DO send it off for testing, keep another "backup sample" in a plastic bag. Just sayin!!!

Hi, the only company in the DR that could do this test is ADNLAB in Santo Domingo. We used them in a similar case.
But, and here comes the big 'BUT" ... even if you get the DNA Profile, there is no DNA Database in the DR to compare it to. Meaning, you need to find the suspect and obtain his profile to compare it to. Also, there is no chain of custody for the sample (mask) the used while robbing you. How can you prof that it is belong to the robber. About involving Police, if you are not a member of one of the top 10 family's in the DR and you mention DNA Evidence, the will just laugh at you. Sorry for the bad news.
