Latest on cellphone use in DR with phones brought from England

i don't know the intricacies of Orange but you should be able to find out over there..

Some shops which sell cellphones in Britian will tell you that their phone works in the Dominican Republic. This is true, but what they do not tell you and probably do not know is that they only work in certain areas. If your cellphone company or service provider has a webpage they show a map with the area from Santo Domingo up through the Ciboa valley (Santigo) and up to Puerto Plata. Outside this shaded area the phone will not work. This area may coinside with the Orange network.

Have had several people from Britian who have been misinformed here.
