Hotel Europa in Sosua

I heard the Hotel Europa in Sosua was closed for renovations.Did they reopen?I am flying down next Thursday night(the 30th).I am arriving after midnight and if the Europa is closed,I dont know where I can just pop in at 1am and get a room for the night.Any suggestions?Also,where can I change American Dollars into pesos at that time of the morning?Thanks.

You can stay the first night at Rockys if they have room. I did this one time when my reservations got kapluie once.

write marco @ Rockysbluesbar@hotmail.com and ask him if Europa is open or and if he has room for the night. Tell him I suggested to write him. He will check it out for you and write you back. He is a good friend of mine and a very nice guy. Just don't go to the casino with him because he is the kiss of death.

They were open last month when I was down. Marco can also change some money for you if you let him know in advance.

Have fun. I may be down shortly after the first. I have a closing on 5-31-02 and if that goes smoothly I will be headed into Sosua.

Thnaks Jazzcom.I e-mailed Marco and am waiting for him to respond.If the Europa was open last month like you say then it must be up and running again.When last month was that?If you are going to be down there when I am (May30th to June 4th) let me know so I can pop into Rockys and buy you a beer.

Pop in anyway even if I am not there and tell marco I said to buy you a beer on me.

I have a closing schedualed for 5-31-02. If that goes off without a hitch I will go maybe on 6-3-02. My daughter is in a play on the 2nd. I have last minute things I have to get done according to the building inspector who is a pain in the ass. I have a buyer that is also a pain in the ass who is draggin his ass and all I do is push everyone including the Attorneys. I am holding the mortgage and that should have made it a cakewalk but...

Marco will help you out. He is my best bud in Sosua. He has helped others on this board for me.

Thanks a lot man.I am flying back here Thesday morning(the 4th) so maybe I'll see you Mon night if you get there.I will drop into Rockys and drop your name reguardless of where I stay.I met Ted from there last time I was down.Hopefully Europa will be opened so I wont have any problems.

Yeah I got that fare but I got it before I read your post.I get e-mail notifications from AA when they run specials(I think every tuesday morning they come out with the list) and sometimes they have the $239 to Puerto Plata Deal. I was hoping they were running it for next weekend because it is the first weekend I could go in a while.Only problem is 4 days and 5 nights is not long enough for me.I need at least 10!I plan on going back for 3 weeks in November.

there's a great little hotel also in sousa down the street from hotel europa - its very clean, no bugs and its dirt cheap - $200 pesos - $12 US.

No secret..... the hotel is called Hotel America - very clean nothing fancy and cheap 200 pesos a day $12 US.

Thanks for the info Sandra but I already booked 5 nights in the Europa(It is open).Is the America on the same side as the Europa going toward the beach with a little open faced bar downstairs?If so,I know the place you are talking about but I have never seen the rooms.I will pop in to see when I am there.

Jazzcom--- You are not going back until Christmas day or was that a typo? I thought you went down all the time?

By the way,the Europa was $150.00 for 5 nights with a room with A/C.A little on the expensive side but I have been there before and it is comfy.

I go down all the time. I made christmas frequent flyer reservations so as not to be stuck going to Mexico again next holiday season. I couldnt get to POP either on FF'er miles or a fare under 1000 US dollars last holiday season so ended up in Playa del Carman last New Years via FF with Delta. Man was I sorry!

So to paraphrase, I only have Christmas reservations at this moment but will end up there a bunch of times before. I will probably take the 239 Thurs.-Tues. a few times and another FF'er maybe for Thanksgiving when it is expensive.

Walk out of your hotel on the main road and walk away from the beach for half a block on the same side. Haligal Bar. Tell Jube that Escott still loves her and tell Jaime that I asked her to dance on the bar for you.
