Pan Am will aquire no more 727-200Adv aircraft said John Nadolny of Pan American Airways. With a fleet size of 25 727-200Adv as well as 20 Jetstream 31's aircraft Pan Am has positioned it's self to now aquire four WIDEBODIES either L1011's or DC-10-30's to use as feeders to their Dominican Hub of Santo Domingo as was done years ago when they used San Juan as their Caribbean Hub.

L1011's? DC-10's? 727's? Oh god. A lot of airlines have gone bankrupt because of this. High maintenance, very unreliable, CASM very high. Airlines don't survive for those reasons.

Pan AM

L10-11/DC-10...wrong move from Pan Am.
L10-11 is a great aircraft, its cost a lot of $$$ to keep that plane in the air and also very hard to find those parts.

Also labor cost...3 engines = 3 pilots+ about 9 flight attendants.

b767-400 and 777-200 greats aircrafts.

False information or just old rumors

I have checked with "reliable sources" within PanAm and I have been informed that there are no plans to obtain any DC-10s or L-1011s...
This might be a malicious rumor to undermine the new Pan Am project, which will serve a very important sector of the population in the USA and the DR...
