is there anyway to see a list of member's e:mail addresses?

I was wondering if there is any feature on the site that allows one to the names and e:mail addresses of other members/users if they listed that option in there profile? I tried by going to the who's online page on the site only tto find that the "Administrator
disabled" that feature.

Personally I hope not, Isaac. I would disable "email" if that were permitted. Reason is, then anyone could get the list, including all the spammers. Our inboxes would soon be full of garbage.

Way it is now, someone can email you, but the recipient has the option of whether or not he will respond by email, making his address known. This a a safeguard for all of us.

Email addresses will always be blind on this board, this is to protect you from spammers harvesting them and from the idiots that pass by this board from time to time.

If you send someone an email and PM and do not get a reply, take the hint ;)

We do not need any email address given out, enough spam now but the mailwasher works well. In fact I have even removed my email address from the board as I was getting spam sent my people reading the board not necessarily members and emailing from the board. I received an invitation completely unsolicited from some Hotel Tropical in Samana, I have never looked at their site and know nothing about them, the strange thing is it was in <mime> format. They are now on my blocked sender list.
Lets keep things the way they are Robert.

If anyone receives spam via this board please email us directly
and we will do our best to make their life hell :)

It's obvious if it comes via this board, the email clearly states that it's from the DR1 message board.

That mail washer is working great Wud. Thanks. I keep it open and my outlook express off. It still sounds when mail comes in and I have a chance to bounce what I don't want. Lot less email with porn sites coming through since I downloaded it.

That's interesting, Wud. I haven't received any spam yet, butI can see how anyone might be able to send any of us an email or PM. But it would sure be a lot more work than would be the case if they ever got hold of a list of addresses.

The hotel you are speaking of must be the Tropical Lodge Hotel in Samana. It is a very nice hotel, I stay there myself on occasion, and I have known the owners since I got to Samana in 1986. But I agree that the email and PM buttons on the board should not be used to send advertisements, etc, by anyone.

You probably got singled out because everyone knows you are a rich world traveler.

That's good since Lizzy ( with the husband) has PM'd me 3X so far as to why the "URL" doesn't work. I would prefer no direct e-mail frankly. I like the ability to rad PM's without the sender's awareness, too. And as you say, not answering at all.

Actually I misspoke

What I meant to ask had more to do with with private messaging and not private e:mail addresses sorry to get everyone all worked up.

However I would suppose that there is also no way to get access
to the PM list which is what I was looking for in the first place
because I wanted to send a PM to someone. At any rate guess that I will have to look at some old posts to see if i can highlgiht
an old post and possibly send a PM that way.


Robert, your point is well taken I suppose that if after 5 days I have not received a response to my PM that one is not forthcoming.
