Which is the best/cheapest place to visit Los Haitises? Is it worth? And for a small plus would you go as well to the island?
Another question: how are things to go from Samana to Sabana de la Mar? I read somewhere a pier was being built so that an only ferry could do the trip without having to change it? any other tips? without renting a car, how would you go to Los Limones waterfall?
Oh, and I'm 17-20th November afraid it's too soon to see whales, isn't it?

Yes, November to soon to see the whales. Some may be on their way from the north by then, but whale excursions in Samana Bay don't begin until about January 15.

Los Haitises is interesting. You'll visit caves that were occupied with residents of the area long before Columbus arrived.

Sabana de la Mar can be reached by ferry. There are several round trips between the two cities each day.

The island, Cayo Levantado, is currently closed. There have been too many problems with trash not being picked up and an overabundance of vendors. You can check when you get here. See Kim Beddall in Victoria Marine/Whale Samana. Her office is opposite the park on the side of Camilo's Restaurant. While there, you can also talk with her about the whales. She is the founder of whalewatching in Samana Bay. Also talk with Kim about the Los Haitises trip; she can tell you the pros and cons of the different options.

Enjoy your visit.
