how to get dominican permenant residency

hey ,
I was just wondering being an american, how one can acquire the domincan permenant residency not the procedure but the way like do i have to invest money in DR or like marry a native or wht is the criteria to attain a DR permenant residency.I know alot of students get their residency to have a reduction in international student fees.After they move out of DR do they lose it .What do u have to do to maintain ur residency.

If you read everything in the archives, you will know a lot. This question has come up often.

Once you get your residency it must be renewed periodically. The first residency is provisional and must be renewed after a year or so. After that it will be every 2 or 3 years. You won't lose your residency if you don't get a bad name with the authorities and if you continue to renew it.
