Hiya!

Could anyone tell me roughly how much it costs for a day or a night pass to 3/4 * hotels in Puerto Plata. Was hoping to go to the Fun Royale in Playa Dorada one night over New Year .....

Thanks in advance.

More than it is worth. E.g. more than a penny.

Hamaca in Boca Chica is a lot for what you get - like 1,000 pesos for a day pass - I am not sure they have a night pass. But nearly $50 is obscene.

The food is average, you cannot possibly drink that much. The discos (Hamaca is an example) charge a small fee with admission and drinks included ( US$10 I recall) for the disco alone and the casino allows the public already for nothing.

So maybe a disco fee plus use of a casino would be a better deal - I assume generally the rules are similar in other AI's like in PP as you mention where you are going. You would then not have to suffer the "shows" they put on either.

It's a good get away, actually

When we lived down there, we'd do the A/I thing once in a while at various hotels. Typically we'd do a one/two night stay and it was a nice escape. more than that and I was pulling out my hair in boredom!

Can't remember the price exactly, but it was around $50-$75 for a night I believe....? Sorry I can't be more helpful on the cost.

Just going for the "day" without staying a night is kind of a waste as the beaches are better in Sosua/Cabarete than towards PP.

my two cents
good luck!

The HB's 2? worth.
Get to POP. Go to Sofy's B&B if available. Or to Tropix in Sosua.
Both websites are on file here.
Get the best info you can. There are specials everyday in the papers--The prices A/I are in the price range you have seen above. US$50-US$75 a day p/p, sometimes less.

YOu might decide something else will suit you...

Used to be able to get a night pass (6PM-2AM) in Juan Dolio for $100 -$150 pesos. At that price it was a pretty good deal. It gave you dinner at the buffet, the "show" put on by animation and access to the disco where drinks were extra.
Sad to say but those days are long gone! Any more than that is really not worth it if there are two of you. A nice dinner out and then a local disco/bar will provide better food and better entertainment.
