This surprises me, since Continental switched from a 737 to a 757 out of Newark to alleviate this problem several years ago. It looks like the problem is back. There is some info in the archives about this practice.

CO still flts a 737 800 series on one of its flights to SDQ, so you will still get weight embargos in hot weather

I didn't know anything of flying a 767, though it is a very profitable route, i don't see filling that "tank" and from experience, turnaround time will be horrible with the ensuing boarding problems at Newark

Continental

Continental Airlines has some years 2 daily flights on the route Newark - Santo Domingo in B757-200 and B737-800 in the night.

Continetal has upgraded the B757 flight to a B767-400ER for the high season.

But they have announced that the B767-400ER will stay on this route and will be 1 daily flight on B767-400ER.

Why? Ther is not enough space/gates at Santo Domingo Las Americas Airport, For more aircrafts thats 1 Big B767-400 on this route.

Also USA 3000 Airlines have 2 to 3 weekly flights on this route Newark - Santo Domingo.

That going to cause a lot of travel problems, that 767 leaves at 08:55 and almost none of the feeders can get a legal connection. CO is still going to fly the 737 through at least march, on the evening departure

Thats right

But we cant find a second flight, Continental need to add a second flight or change the departure time from Newark to 16:00
But their is a night flight from Newark operated by USA3000 Airllines but only 3 flights a week.

The Boeing 767-400ER will be deleted on this route on a later stage and will be changed to the old schedule

Morning : B757-200
Night: B737-800

Part of the "Problem" rest with the Dominican passengers!

They are told that there is a baggage restriction in force when they book. They still show up with "Extra" and overweight bags! Then they blame the airlines! Typical! CRIS
