Can someone fill me in on more information about this tragedy? My girlfriend lives in Puerto Plata and told me that a German tourist was killed by a dominican and they are searching the streets for the dominican. Anyone have more scoop on this?

German tourist killed in Puerto Plata?????
A German man was killed in Sosua, La Mulata about two days ago and his wife severely injured is still in the hospital. That was on 26th of January.

As heard in the radio local news of Puerto Plata, the police is searching in all houses from the barrios, el tablon, sosua abajo and places nearby, they have a spoken image from a supposed witness, the locals are complaining because of this redadas, although they said that a representative from the tribunal de justicia is accompanying the police to prevent abuses.
They have arrested more than 100.
This is according to the local radio news.

I think the DR is gonna lose out on alot of tourism. When I was there in November I have been told if a dominican ever messes with a tourist that they kill the dominican on the spot. After all it is the germans and american tourists that save the country from poverty. If these keeps up we wil all boycott the DR

I feel much safer in the DR than in certain cities in Michigan: Detroit, Flint, etc. Granted petty crimes such as pickpocketing and trying to run a scam on tourists is not unusual, common sense has to be used. The DR is a developing country with a lot of poverty and so I am not going to stop going to the DR because of a death of a tourist. These are just unfortunate occurences and considering how many tourists visit the DR, the numbers of violent crimes against tourists are lower in comparison to Jamaica, Central America, and South America.

That's a silly thing to repeat ... actually every sentance you said is silly! Every country, city, town, village ... barrio has people willing to commit "criminal" acts. The actions of a very few do not define the morality of the majority. DR included!
Friends of ours just returned from a weeks vacation in Mexico where they were "shaken down" by the local police for $200US. I've been to Mexico and almost landed in jail because the Mexican police tried to plant a roach in my car ash tray! I friend of mine was killed in Mexico while on vacation. The short time I have spent in DR, and the wonderful experiences I had there with people on and off the resort, have convinced me that you can find no better place, no better people in all of paradise, than DR.
So please, do not include me in your boycott!

You can't believe the hardship this places on the poor dominicans who have to drag these 400 pound plus dead guys out of the whore houses and cabanas of the DR!One two story Whore House in santo domingo, that is a favorite of the Germans,actually installed a slide from the second story to the ambulance parked out back for 24 hour service!!!Too many ambulance workers got hernias,or slipped discs dragging those "Pigs" down the stairs.Don't these German guys get laid at home??? Yes, Germans are frugal, but I've found that they often lead the way to nice places.
I've spent time in Germany and liked the Germans. (Didn't do too well with the frauleinen, though, had better luck in Scandinavia).
Wouldn't we all like to know more about the danger of murder - when it happens in Costa Rica, for example, it makes CNN for a month.
Finally, maybe Saddam, though evil, should take a number and get in line behind N. Korea, the economy, etc.

Malpractice suits up the ying-yang. I lived way too close to that place and always saw jeeps and Benzes parked there when I would drive by..... is it still painted that bright-ass sherbet orange which would blind me and I would almost hit other cars:knockedou ? "Bombs away" when those dudes come down the slides. If they actually had a slide there, I wanna see the pics, it would be funny

By the way i am not German I am American from NYC. All the info that I told you about if a dominican messes with a tourist that they are killed instantly on the spot, that was informed to me by guys that run the casino at Paradise in Playa Dorado, Puerto Plata. How would I know otherwise unless they informed me of this.
As far as the German tourist being stabbed to death, does anyone know more about the situation and reasoning behind it? IU was just curious was it over a female or he struggled back in a fight. From what I know if the locals are going to rob you then let them because its not much they will get anyways. If anyone has more info I would appreciate it.
