Well in Mexico there are rumors of closing auto assembly plants, like volkswagen, so do you think somebody is comming to invest here ?
Probably he wants to built "Basuratis"

HA! Those would be worse than the "ROKA" trucks coming outta Metaldom....used Nissan engines and all. Imagine that, a car made out of junk and metal scraps found in La Duquesa

Volkawagen has now agreed to open more plants in Mexico and Nissan will now start assembly of Maxima / Altima in Mexico. So I guess Hipo was talking about Yugo or Lada........maybe even the Hindustan Ambassador from India.

That moron needs to walk and walk now and without looking back!!

His Fatness talking about manufacturing cars in the DR is not that scary. Incredibly ignorant or world economics, but not scary.

Last year, during his "trade mission" to Ukraine, he inquired with the Ukees about building aircraft and, if you can believe it, nuclear power plants in the DR.

Imagine it. A nuclear power plant constructed and maintained by a political croney and monitored pursuant to the rigid standards of the CDE. Now that's scary!!!

Well, PR, if you'll recall, when Hippo went to Argentina he took his "nuclear experts" (gee, wonder who qualified for that title, in Hippo's view...) with him and publicly asked the President how much it would cost for the Argentines to help build a nuclear power plant in the DR! When he received an answer in the mega-billions (can't remember the exact figure, but it was alot), he declared that nuclear power was a "viable option" to solve the DR's power problem and that he wanted his "experts" to consult with Argentina's on the possibilities! Snickers, if not outright hysterical laughter, was heard throughout Latin America at those pearls of wisdom from His Baldness.
Yup. Just imagine. A nuclear power plant built in a country regularly hit by hurricanes, on a fault that occassionally brings earthquakes, in a land not known for adhering to construction specifications nor properly maintaining structures once built, a land with no real nuclear engineers, a land having difficulty paying for petroleum-powered plants, a land that cannot manage its household trash but would be expected to safely manage radioactive waste, and a land where smuggling and security risks are manifold (so no worries about diversion, right?! NOT!).... Oh, sure, Hippy, a viable energy option for the DR! !No puedo creer que esta idiota esta' manejando mi quisqueya! No se' si sea mas tragedia o comedia... :ermm:

Keith

Now for some real cynicism

Keith,

Forget about Argentina. No money there for His Baldness and his cronies.

Now, if His Lardassness starts talking to GE or Westinghouse about building nucelar power plants in the DR, that's a different story altogether.

After discussions with the French and Germans promissing them a "piece of the action" on subcontracts, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the InterAmerican Development Bank would all pronounce this an important project for world peace.

A loan in the amount of eight zillion dollars would be made available to the "Dominican government" for the project, provided that the government agree to privatize anything left in the country that hasn't been privitized yet, such as hospitals, prisons, ports, education, etc, and, more importantly, open them open to bidding by foreign companies.

Of that eight zillion dollars, four zillion would be siphoned to government cronies, and four zillion would be applied to the foreign companies building the nuke plant that would never be finished anyway.

Poor Dominicans will then have the honor of receiving nothing and paying the usurous international debt service for the rest of their and their childrens' lives - with "austerity" plans mandated by the World Bank and IMF to teach those reckless Dominicans a lesson on finance.

See what you started!
