The average price to fly to POP from Ottawa for 2 weeks is $700 after taxes.
That is a flight only quote with Go Travel Direct (Zoom Airlines).
I managed to get a 3 week flight only travel for $950 including taxes and medical insurance leaving the end of this month.
I think I got a pretty good deal for travel from Ottawa.

How do most Canadians on this board get down to DR in the summer? I usually fly with American Airlines in the summer but unsure if I want to do that this year...I go for 2 months..anyone have any ideas of the best way to get down to POP in July?

If I am planning on staying in POP for longer than 1 or 2 weeks, then I fly from Toronto to POP via American Airlines. From Toronto, the only flights are chartered flights, so the only option is 1 or 2 weeks. And sometimes an American Airline flight can cost you just about the same as a chartered flight (leave mid-week and don't come home on a weekend). And the bonus with American Airlines is that you can fly out any day of the week and the baggage allowance is 2 bags (70 pounds each).

Rosanie, that was flight only. The 8th which was the begining of march break here the price was $1100.00 with taxes.
Our taxes range from 185 to 225 no matter how much the base
price of the flight.

The only kind of scam here is the one dealt to us by our Canadian Government, every day. The airline price here oftentimes is cheaper than the taxes, no word of a lie! And also remember about the prices, they are in Canadian $, not American...that $400 is about $250 USD!
OK...not sure about Canada, but you can get flights for about 350.00 USD from Detroit to Puerto Plata and Punta Cana all the time. That's why I said is a decent price, but not a huge bargain...
Flying from Canada must be really expensive...I've lived in Michigan for about 14 yrs now and my office is right across from Windsor (Divided by a river), but last year was the first time I ever visited. I liked Toronto and found it to be relatively inexpensive...

Should be cheaper when we give you 1.60 for your dollar, many Yanks fly from Windsor to the DR much cheaper than Detroit Metro.
