PAINLESS DELIVERY
A couple arrived at the hospital to deliver their first baby, and the doctor gave them some exciting news. "We've got a new machine," he said, "that will transfer some of the mother's pain to the father. Are you interested?" Both parents eagerly agreed, and the doctor set the machine to transfer 10 percent of the pain. "Most men can't handle much more," the doctor explained.
After a few minutes, the husband wasn't feeling any pain; so they increased the transfer to 20 percent. The husband continued to feel fine.
Since the machine was having a wonderful effect on the wife, the couple asked the doctor to increase the transfer again. After a few minutes, 50 percent of the pain was being siphoned off. The wife felt great, and the husband felt fine as well.
"Why not crank it up to 100 percent?" the husband asked, and the wife and doctor agreed. A short time later, the wife delivered a bouncing baby boy, with almost no pain or discomfort.
They left the hospital that afternoon. When the family arrived home, they found the mailman dead on the porch.
