This is outrageous, but from July 1st people who use discounted fares (G,K,L,M,N,O,Q,S,V) will earn only 25% of miles. Only FULL FARES will be eligible for 100% bonus miles.
50 000 miles needed to get free ticket from NYC to LON and return. For example if you will fly on discounted fare NYC LON it is 3458 miles, so you'll get only 865 miles, so round trip is just 1730 miles. It means that you must fly at least 28 times ROUND TRIPS to get a free ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If will fly paying FULL ECONOMY FARE you need 8 roud trip travels. This is absurd! Upgrade is allowed only from FULL FARES too.
American Airlines will make same changes this summer, being member of One World alliance they will have todo it. It seems that carriers decided to declare war to those who want something for free.
So spend your miles on AAdvantage until "inflation" will eat them. From July1st BA will requier more miles and will change zones. So now you know!:angry:
