I was told today that Conch shell jewelry was not permitted to be sold in USA. Is this true and if so why not?
Where can I go to find out what things are and are not permiitted to be sent to USA and sold. I know about fruits and veggies and such. But what other items...coral? Larimar? Amber? Pink Conch? Straw hats? Wooden statues? Where do I find this info?

Endangered Species

Certainly not conch and coral are allowed into North America. Check the US Customs web site for prohibited endangered species.

Larimar and amber are of course allowed, and while the straw hats and those beach wood statues are dog ugly they are not prohibited even on the grounds of awful taste.

If you can't find it on the web

Try visiting the commercial Attach? of the US Embassy

I know that Caray, Conch and anything that comes from living creatures is closely regulated-stuff like skins..

Stuff made of straw probably has some insect issues and would need to be fumigated.
