Someone sent me this today...and it made me cry...

I know that whoever reads it, if you are a grandparent, will feel the same way!

Enjoy it!!!

<i><b>Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born.

The child asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God replied, "Among the angels, I'll choose one for you. Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you
every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"I've heard that on Earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

At that moment there was much peace in heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

Her name is not important. You will simply call her "GRANDMA".

That's beautiful and more so since my 2 year old granddaughter is sitting here with me.

A Lovely Story.

I was feeling emotional anyway, and when I read that it just about finished me off. My two grandchildren, three and one, are back in England and I only get to see them once a year, which isn't easy. What is it about this country, with all it's difficulties, that keeps me hooked on living here? Or is it my insanity??

I have a few reasons for not moving from the darn snow for good. Three of them are the grandkids. When I was in the DR for a month (ok it now has dr content) my first grandchild couldn't talk yet but I would dream of her every night holding out her little arms and saying " Nonna, Nonna"

Maybe when they're older and I'm richer. haha

Just to keep the old emotions stirred up.....

In view of what we've been sharing about, I thought I'd just include a snippet of an e-mail received from my daughter today:

"3 weeks till we go on hols (vacation). Lul 's (my 3 year old granddaughter, Laura) telling everyone we're going to Greece on the big aeroplane. (Every plane that we see has got Nanny Linda on it!) If you ask her who lives in her house she says, Mummy, Daddy, Laura, Adam and Nanny Linda! Then she remembers that you live in the "Public", (her word for Dominican Republic) but says, "Let's just pretend!" "

Talk about wrenching the heart strings. Maybe I'll go back and come back here when they're older and I'm richer, ha, ha, equally.
But then I'll be a good deal older, too, and don't know if I'll still be able to get my leg over....the motoconcho of course! Well, to be precise, his bike, not him! That reminds me of the time.....

Sorry to lower the tone of this sweet little thread, it's a defence mechanism really.

What to do when you can't be in two places at the same time......

(Would have loved to add a photo to this. Is it possible and if so can someone explain how, in idiot terms? I do have some photos on the computer. Thanks)

Linda, on the home page of DR1, if you scroll down, on the left between News Archive and Hot Sites - there is a media gallery. If you send the pictures to Robert, I'm sure he will add them to the media gallery for you so that we all can see them.

I'm just so fortunate. My 2-year old granddaughter lives right here with me. I get to enjoy every good moment and to also share the terrible two's. I'm up early in the mornings with her and we have our tea together. This is our time and it is wonderful. (Anna, DR content - we all live here! ;)
