in counting, why do we needs all these generals in a country with
30, 000 troops it just outrageous. When you see all this generals
parading around with their fat bellies, will remind you of those old
mexican movies. I believe that they should only keep a least two
in retire the rest, and put some of that money into the economy.

It is just more than ridiculous !

Most of these generals do not serve any purpose and some of them may not even have a normal education ! They were promoted only based on personal relations. Certainly as far as the ratio between the number of troops and generals is concerned this is unique in the world and one of the outstanding features of this very particular country.

Well, I hear that there maybe around 100 that received regalitos from Baninter. But think of this, all those generals building their tremenda casotas does keep a sector of the economy going: construction, interior decorators...hey, I'm trying to put a good spin to this, LOL. But then again, I hear that many of these generals are mala pagas. God bless Costa Rica, a beautiful paradise without such military nonsense.

One United States Marines division has about 40,000 Marines and is usually headed by a three star general. I think that the entire US Military (Over 3 mil. including reserves) doesn't have that many.
