Greetings from NYC! I will be staying at the Riu Mambo on Aug-30-Sept. 4........so I will get back to you with a report! I did my research too, and it seems like a good place. Especiall with the Pay for 1, Play at 3 deal.....there are many reviews out there, so do your research but what I found mostly are good ones.....so don't worry, you made a good choice.....I will let you know once I get back how it really is.......Riu Mambo is supposedly the lower end of the other 2 Riu Resorts but it's still a 4 star hotel. I believe this one is more Family oriented and the Riu Bachata is supposedly the Noisey-Party Hotel.........well, I should find out.....

Just stayed the weekend at the Rui Bachata. The food was excellent, sports beach is nice but other beach not very good( too much coral), service was very good with most of the staff speaking good english, clean rooms, full fridge, bottles of rum,whiskey..etc. The place was full of Dominicans, Brits, Germans, Canadians, Dutch and Americans. Lots of kids and lots of kids activities. Service in the main restaurant was excellent. My only complaint was the pools were too shallow. There is 3 resorts in one, the other 2 were quite full and have different character to them and the bars are closer to the beach. I would go back. The only other all inclusives I have been at are in Playa Dorado and i would put the Rui complex a higher class.

As promised, I am writing back about my experience at the Riu Mambo. It was excellent. I would definitely go back! The service is amazing, the staff was so warm and friendly. I stayed at the Riu Mambo, the rooms were a good size, nothing to complain about. The refridgerator and liquor in the room was stocked everyday. You will be amazed at all the liquor in the room. Everything was really clean, amazingly clean. The good thing about it is that I paid the Riu Mambo price but you can eat and play at the Bachata and Merengue! You can't go wrong. Some water sports are included like, snorkeling, canoe, peddle boat. Others like Jet Ski-$25 per 15 minutes, horse back riding-$20 per person 3 hours, parasailing are extra. Massages on the beach is $20 dollars per 30 minutes. Some parts of the beach had rocks and seaweed in the ocean but there is plenty of beach to search for a cleaner place. -oh, definitely bring mosquito repellent! you won't see them but they will definitely bite you. I ran out the last 2 days and was bitten allover-Then I realized that they sold repellent at the giftshop!

Okay, I'm gonna ressurect this old topic to see if anyone could tell me a little about the Riu...

At the disco(s) would it be possible to get a 16 year old in?

And another question, what is the fishing like? how much does it cost?

stayed at riu mambo in october and it was excellent.
The disco is ok, i enjoyed the music although some might call it cheesy. The disco is for 16 yr olds and over so there should be no problems there. The best thing is the drinks are also included on here.
One bit of advise, it is the coldest disco i have ever been too so it may be worth taking a small jacket with you. (or just dance away to get warm).

We thought the whole complex was amazing, but the best thing was the entertainment team at the mambo. They had so much energy never stopped smiling and left you alone if you didn't want to join in. The teams at the other two hotels just didn't seem to have the same enthusiasm.

Will definatley go back soon

Anybody gonna be at the Mambo during the week of Dec. 23rd - 30th? Perhaps with Teenagers?

I'm trying to get some teens gathering on the 23rd or 24th. Might work, might not...
