The flowers on that tree are very beautiful, they remind me a little of honeysuckle.

Can't help with any native flowers, but according to the Lonely Planet guidebook, the variety of Jacaranda which grows in DR isn't found anywhere else. They also report that of over 5,000 plant species documented in DR, more than a third of them appear on Hispaniola an nowhere else.
