Cofresi Beach

I am planning on renting an apartment in this at Playa Cofresi, and I need some information. My trip is in July, and I know this is the rainy season- But how is the weather? Is there a grocery store close? I am a young single female and I will be traveling with my 8 year old son- is this area generally safe? I have been to Puerto Plata and the people trying to scam seemed drawn to me for some reason. Any insight would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

My response is purely of a selfish nature. I visited Costambar, which neighbors Cofresi, in March. I have a friend who works on the Cofresi beach and is very special to me. Getting a letter to her, however, is nearly impossible unless it is hand delivered. It would be worth the trip for anyone to do this service for it is an exquisite beach and she is an extremely nice person. She's there 7 days a week.
