It isn't a special mosquito lotion it is just an adequate bug repellent, OFF!, Muskol, something with , say 25% DEET.
IF you don't use it you will get eaten by the many species of non dengue-carrying mosquitos, particularly from the knees down as they fly around like cruise missiles following the terrain.
IF it is hot and dry in the daytime they usually are not an issue but when it cools down or after rain there are millions.
