What holiday takes place on February 5th?

I believe they celebrate it in Mexico also, so I am assuming it is not a national holiday.

Curious as I am hoping to be in POP that week.

I have a son born on Feb 5, but that wouldn't be a reason for a holiday in the DR. Checked my calendar for this year and Feb 5 not marked as a holiday.

Thanks Ken, I have been through the archives and cannot find a reference to Feb 5 so I must now assume it is just a holiday for Mexico.
Too bad I was hoping to get to see some off resort celebrations :disappoin
Oh well just have to create some fireworks of my own ;)

According to my diary, Feb 5th is "Constitution Day" in Mexico apparently, so I would guess that it's only in Mexico where it is celebrated.

Rick- is the date for carnival etched in stone? Would like to plan our trip next year to coincide with this, if it's a definite will start working on it.

It has to do with Ash Wednesday which is 46 days before Easter, so that makes AWs Feb 25th.

And the 27/28th would be right on for the end of that week.

The "week" of the 21st - 24th is officially Carnaval in Rio etc., so I guess they have to finish by Fat Tuesday, before Ash Wednesday. When all the eating stops.

Thanks much!

Knew it flipped to Jan. once or twice, wasn't sure if it was Gov't inflicted or not.
