D.R. Military Vehicles do look a bit frail...

I haven't read of their battle effectiveness, but I would feel a lot safer in any 'M- Series', Leopold, Chieftain, etc., than in a "war machine" appearing to be a retired "guagua" armored with flattened corrugated tin roofing requistioned by police operations aimed at relocating illegal beach vendors in Boca Chica, and slated for crushing riots related to deplorable electrical provision in Santiago... IBID for the D.R. "tanks"; the Abrams, Scorpion, T- series, Sabra II, AMX, etc. would assuredly better protect its' inhabitants, and be more effective in a combative mode... In the D.R., however, they would be no contest against unsophisticated Molatov concoctions, rocks, bottles, burning tires and the individuals who set fire to them, machetes and the ilk. The D.R. might want to emulate the armed forces of Costa Rica, and use the $ (and pesos) for a kinder and more benevolent government aimed at improving the quality of life for its' most important natural resource--the wonderful inhabitants we all appreciate!

Well at least we can defend the country against Haiti. Some day they will arm themselves.

Agreed on that point; the present military would probably be more than effective to keep them at bay, and justifiably so...
