Does anyone knows which is the institution in charge of giving permits for electronic lotteries.

I read somewhere in DR1 news 2001 archive that Leidsa is the only one allowed to operate this kind of gambling until the expiration of their contract, but is there any law or decret about this?

I called Leidsa and they say they do not know about any law, but they can authorize Drugstores, Supermarkets and Gas Stations to operate a Leidsa branch.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks but I already tried the Ministry of Finance and they informed me that they only handle Casino Gambling, and Leisa handles electronic lottery. But none knows the applicable law.

Thanks anyway!

There are various statutes related to gambling which should be applicable to electronic lotteries: Decree #423-91, Law #351 of 1964, Law #96-88. I have not researched the attributions of the Ministry of Finance but it would seem logical to me that it would be the Ministry in charge. Don?t depend too much on what they told you on the phone. Perhaps you should also enquire at the Loter?a Nacional.
