Birth certificate Issue

I am applying to Universidad Central del Este medical school and one of the documents they require is an original birth certificate. I don't have one as I was born in a foreign country, but I have been naturalized through INS as a U.S. citizen. I am wondering if my "certificate of citizenship" would serve the purpose. I have always used it in the States as a legal document in place of a birth certificate.
