Boarder Crossing between haiti and the dominican

I was just wondering if it is difficult for Dominicans to cross the boarder into haiti for the day. I am trying to get a flight to the dominican throught a relative at a discount because she works at an airport but all flights to the dominican are sold out. I can go to haiti but i want my boyfirend to pick my up. He lives in the dominican. Does anyone know if it would be easy for him to drive across the boarder from there and pick me up at the airport in haiti. I don't know where to ask and i need to know. Last year when i did this i caught a plane from haiti to the domincan and it did not seem very safe . I would prefer that he pick me up in haiti. Thank you so much!!!!
