Does anyone have advice about quiet, secure sections to live in or near Sto. Domingo?
A married couple with no children or pets is considering relocating there and would need a rental with 24 hr. water and electric. House, condo or apartment are all possibilities. The Malecon near Plaza Colonial has been considered.
Any info is welcome!
Thanx!

I found Bella Vista to be quiet, safe and family oriented.

los cacicazgos, actually has better electricity than bella vista. most of the apartments on ave. enriquillo (prolongaci?n ave. sarasota) have back up generators for those times when it does go out. there are many nice houses in the area (just as bella vista) - the only problem is that the neighbours are mostly middle-class boring gits, who rarely come down to the local colmado for a beer.

in arroyo hondo, there are some areas that are very nice and suitable for families, but be careful, many of the properties are getting old and lack maintenance, or are new and very shoddily built.

if you want to get out and about much more, gazcue and the colonial zone are great places to be, just don't leave all your valuables lying around or decide to take a stroll at three o'clock in the morning (not that anything will happen, it is just more likely to) - they are not a good idea if you have a morbid fear of rats. in gazcue, the electricity is good near the american embassy.
