After a second consecutive attempt to introduce the law, and with no quorum this time either (most PRSC, PLD and PRD faithful to Hatuey deputies didn't show up) the head of the Chamber of Deputies decided that it will not be put in the agenda again.

Hipolito won. Or did he?

Today will be a good day for the Presidente brewery.

AMEN to that, Pib!! However, most of the times Dominican politics just doesn't make sense or add up! Did the PPH know all along that this was not going to go through the deputies and if they did know was it just a little trick to make the other wannabe candidates feel like atleast he was trying to include them in? Or did he know that it would not have been in his best interest to have them in as one of them might have come up with more votes then him..taking him out of the picture? But without the votes that would have been added to him (had he mustered enough votes) how does he plan to win, anyway? I don't know but something doesn't make a lot of sense here. Maybe he knows that defeat is for sure and knew that if someone else got into power (from the PRD party) that would have meant trouble for his cronies the PPH as they might have been slowly gotten the kick out of the door so in turn it might be better for him not to have anyone in power (other then him) because that way he will be a powerful politician on the side of the road if you know what I mean. What do you guys make out of all of this? What's the Hippo's little and corrupt hungry mind up to now?

These are the questions everyone is asking. The next one is will they find some pretext to suspend the May election, given their showing in the poll?

Is this supposed to be funny or what ?

Speaking of a clever marketing, anybody who's got today's Diario Libre, flip to paeg 20 of the "PlazaLibre" classified ad section.

It's a full-page ad by Plaza Lama with a screaming " Aprobada Ley de Lama", with a 10% system-wide discount on all merchandize.

How lame ! :)

....although it is dead as far as the next election goes....the 'ley de lemas' will come back to haunt us in the not too distant future.
