Not to be rude or anything, but this question has been asked a zillion times already. If you do a search, type in Haiti, you find all the comments that relate to this subject.
But in short - NO - it will not affect you, check out a map, you will be on the opposite side of the island (furthest away from Haiti) anyway, not that that matters as it will not affect you anywhere in the DR.
