I'm a card-carrying lover of my adopted hometown of NYC and I've been a few places in my young life. Wherever I go, I don't anticipate finding anything like NYC, although I can compare Paris' art scene, or Rio's nightlife and glamour and London's theater and culture and say, "that's the NYC of England" for example...

Now as I gear up for my second trip to DR, I'm starting to think about DR as well in those terms. With that in mind, I'm asking my more experienced world-travelers on the board for opinions/information:

What city/aspect of a city in your mind is the "DR" of_________.

First up for me? Washington Heights, here in NYC. It has the largest concentration of Dominicans outside of DR and the food, women, lifestyle, culture and clubs definitely reminds me of DR... Sadly, there's no beach. But their annual DR Pride parade up Sixth Avenue in the summer is a sight to behold and more than makes up for our cruel winters.
