It's a fairly long ride and you may just prefer to take a taxi there, rather than be confronted with the challenges of driving here after the long flight.
There are various routes to get to Playa Grande and the shortest ones are the most challenging.
I expect that you could get a taxi ride for $100 us which would be double the cost of renting the car, plus gas, but your safety and peace of mind just may be worth it.
If you are still decided on renting, we can suggest the vartious routes to take, but like I said, the shorter ones are a bit complicated and may land up taking you even longer, if you get lost.
