I'm visiting the DR for the first time in August and I'm looking for suggestions of places to stay in Cabarete. I'm not interested in any AI's but would rather stay at a Dominican owned/operated hotel, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

web site has good rentals

www.viviun.com has really good rentals on the north coast and international rentals, villas.

Hi Altgrrl,

I think it is great that you want to stay at a Dominican owned place. More of your money goes into the local economy and you get a more authentic and better experience. Cabarete has everything you need in terms of shops and restaurants and bars plus it is an easy distance to other towns.

I would check out this site

http://www.activecabarete.com/

They have a listings for lots of places to stay. They are not all Dominican owned, and some are AI's so look carefully.
